Why 1820?

The number 1820 comes from a Bible verse - Matthew 18:20. That's where Jesus promises to be spiritually present with two or three people gathered in his name - especially when on mercy missions to rescue lost, shamed, and separated sheep.

In the spirit of Matthew 18:20, we want to provide three things:

  1. CONVERSATION: Content for relational learning about Jesus. Read our studies, grab some friends, and start your journey. Follow the "Blog/Studies" link in our menu, look at the sub-menu for our Intro to Jesus series or our Sermon on the Mount series - two great places to start.

  2. CONNECTION: Opportunities to come together in person and online with other spiritually curious people on the same journey, regardless of religious background. Turning relational learning into purposeful friendship. Check our our "Small Church" link in the menu for opportunities and ideas for connecting.

  3. COMPASSION: Encouragement to serve others around us with the faith, hope, and love of Jesus. Jesus said that unconditional other-centred love will be the identifying mark of his students (John 13:34-35). This kind of love isn't just an empty emotion; nor is it an obligation done out of duty without desire. This love we receive from Jesus and pass on to others is an attitude of honour, an ethos of esteem, and an embrace of grace, mercy, and peace-making. This love is the kingdom culture of 1820 Life.
